Affordable Early Detection Blood Test Scientists from Oregon Health & Science University have developed an inexpensive blood test, named PAC-MANN, capable of detecting pancreatic cancer in its early stages. The test measures changes in protease enzyme activity and, when combined with the existing CA 19-9 test, achieves 85% accuracy. It requires only a small blood sample, delivers results in 45 minutes, and costs less than a penny per sample, making it accessible for widespread screening.

Type 2 Diabetes Linked to Increased Pancreatic Cancer Risk A study analyzing health records from 95,000 individuals found that those with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes have a nearly twofold increased risk of developing pancreatic cancer. The risk was particularly pronounced in women. These findings underscore the importance of vigilant cancer screening in patients with new-onset diabetes.
