Description

Electrification Coalition Alliance Inc.

The Electrification Coalition Alliance Inc. is a U.S. nonprofit organization, designated as a 501(c)(4) civic league, social welfare organization. It is the lobbying arm of the Electrification Coalition, an environmentalist nonprofit focused on promoting the use of electric vehicles to replace oil and gas in transportation[1][3].

Background

The Electrification Coalition Alliance was established following the founding of the Electrification Coalition in November 2009 by high-profile business leaders, including FedEx CEO Frederick W. Smith, then-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, and NRG Energy CEO David W. Crane[1][2]. Robbie Diamond, who also founded Securing America’s Future Energy (SAFE), served as the founding president and a key leader of the coalition[1][2].

Mission and Activities

The alliance focuses on legislative advocacy and public awareness campaigns to accelerate the widespread adoption of electric vehicles. It conducts research and publishes reports to support policy initiatives that promote electric vehicle deployment. One of its key goals is to ensure that U.S. policies continue to support the growth of the electric vehicle industry, which has seen significant job creation and investment due to federal incentives[4].

Leadership and Governance

Robbie Diamond has played a significant role in both the Electrification Coalition and the Electrification Coalition Alliance. Other notable figures involved with the alliance include Joseph Ryan, who has served in various leadership positions within environmental organizations[1].

Financial Information

The organization's finances are primarily supported by contributions, which have accounted for nearly all of its revenue in recent years. Despite not filing tax returns regularly in the past, recent filings indicate significant financial activity related to contributions and operational expenses[3].

Strategic Focus

The alliance collaborates with various stakeholders to develop educational and legislative strategies. It advocates for policies that support the expansion of electric vehicle manufacturing and infrastructure, emphasizing the economic and environmental benefits of reducing U.S. dependence on oil[4]. The goal is to increase electric vehicle penetration in the transportation sector, aligning with broader environmental and energy security objectives[2].
