Our nation's historic preservation efforts are at a crossroads. The Historic Preservation Fund—which fuels the PA State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), Certified Local Government (CLG) grants, and critical reviews—is nearly eliminated in the proposed federal budget. FY25 funds are still being held up. Your community’s preservation projects are at risk. Meanwhile, the newly reintroduced Historic Tax Credit Growth & Opportunity Act (HTC-GO) could help revitalize more historic buildings—especially in rural towns—if Congress acts now. Over the past 5 years, Pennsylvania benefitted from over 3 billion dollars invested in rehabilitation projects supported with federal historic preservation tax credits. This critical incentive revitalizes our core communities and contributes positive economic and tax impacts.
