Toano Historical Society | Preserving the Beauty and Tradition of Toano Welcome to the THS Homepage. Founded in 2018 the Toano Historical Society was created to inspire a sense of community spirit promote interest in Toano history and preserve our smalltown character and its history. Toano has a long and rich history and the town was once the commercial center for Upper James City County. In the 1960s changes to Route 60 caused the town to lose much of its visual and historic character.
