Join the OAK Farmer Field Day at Old Homeplace Farm in Clay County - just one month away! Maggie and Will Bowling have worked since 2014 to develop healthy pasture systems; soil health and crop diversity; harvest, post-harvest and storage infrastructure; and a community of customers and supporters. Join this Field Day on June 23 to tour Maggie's greenhouse, high tunnels, packing shed and field crops. The Bowlings will share how the farm grew its infrastructure, equipment and staff, considered organic certification and joined the Kentucky Farm Share Coalition to expand its customer reach. Will will highlight their pastured livestock operation, including grass-finished beef, sheep and goats, as well as recent silvopasture efforts, integrating perennial tree plantings into his pasture systems. Register at oak-ky.org/field-days - $5 for OAK Members, $10 for non-members This Field Day is open to any interested farmer, aspiring farmer or agriculture professional. Registration is required. Grow Appalachia and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture provided support for this Field Day. OAK's Farmer Education program is supported by the Kentucky Agricultural Development Fund (KADF). Photo courtesy of Old Homeplace Farm (fb)
