The ECAC was formed in 2003 with a mission to empower the human spirit by integrating traditional arts, education and social services in a community space. The center at 733 Euclid Street, NW opened in 2006 after renovation of a historically significant, abandoned building that was an eyesore in the neighborhood. Individuals and organizations partnered with the ECAC to focus on several strategic areas: civic engagement, volunteerism, arts, education, support groups, social activities, and heritage. Because of their significant social impact, these areas guide the activities and programming of the ECAC.
