The organization was started with little more than the drive dreams and dedication of its founders. On August 31 2000 they received designation as a Community Housing Development Organization CHDO and on September 8 2000 NEHI was awarded HOME CHDO funds to proceed with the PurchaseRehabResell and Down Payment Assistance programs in Cedar Dixon and Pierce Counties.
