Role and Mission of the NCRS Creed We advise They decide The primary role of the NCRS is to operate a Norman refugee resettlement program that welcomes our new neighbors provides a supportive environment to restore their dignity and guidance to achieve selfsufficiency while honoring their culture. The NCRS will Supply items andor money to meet initial needs Provide for safe housing and a path to selfreliance Walk with our families in obtaining a broad scope of services to assist in physical and cultural adjustment in the community Act as an advocate on behalf of the refugee and their family who receive services for which they are eligible When assisting a refugee agency NCRS will designate volunteer members to communicate and coordinate efforts with the case manager for each family. The NCRS performs or assists in these activities Locate clean safe housing and financial assistance as available Assist in finding employment Provide or arrange transportation as needed Arrange for suitable furniture and household items Provide food andor a food allowance Furnish appropriate clean seasonal clothing for work school employment and everyday use Provide appropriate amounts of pocket money and budget guidance during resettlement to achieve selfreliance Assist in seeking social services including education learning English health and other needs Assist with cultural adjustment to the community encouraging retention of and protection of their own cultural identity Support legal services related to refugee proceedings and other legal services as determined by the NCRS 2023 by Norman Coalition for Refugee Support.
