🌞 Hot days are coming! Here’s how to keep everyone in your family safe and cool: 1. Stay Informed 📲 Call 2-1-1 for the nearest cooling space & rides. 🔔 Sign up for local Public Alerts. 🌤️ Check the forecast before heading outside. 2. Watch for Heat Illness 😓 Heat Exhaustion: heavy sweat, cramps, dizziness, nausea. ➜ Rest in shade, sip water, cool off with a damp cloth. 🚑 Heat Stroke: confusion, no sweat or very sweaty, hot skin. ➜ Call 911 right away, move to a cool spot, give small sips only if awake. 3. Keep Cool 💧 Drink water often; skip sugary or alcoholic drinks. 🍿 Snack on something salty to replace sweat losses. 🛁 Take a cool shower or use a fan (works best under 95 °F). 🏠 Visit AC-cooled places—library, mall, community center. 👕 Wear light, loose clothes & save outdoor fun for morning/evening. 4. Stay Water-Safe 🌊 Rivers feel good but stay cold and fast—wear a life jacket and keep close watch on kids. 💦 Tip: Start storing extra water now—every little bit helps in an emergency! 📚 Want easy-read tips to prepare for other kinds of emergencies? Check out our storybooks on emergency planning at factoregon.org/emergency-preparedness. 📖✨ (fb)
