The Hive Community Circle

Overview

The Hive Community Circle is a U.S. nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, and stalking. Founded in 2014, it operates as a survivor-led and survivor-driven peer advocacy organization, focusing particularly on underserved communities, including women and girls of color and those experiencing economic instability.

Mission and Values

The Hive's mission is to provide unwavering support and compassion to the most impacted yet underserved survivors in South Carolina, with a focus on reducing barriers and increasing service delivery through peer advocacy, economic reform, and mental health support. The organization values cultural competency, community-centered approaches, authenticity, integrity, commitment to excellence, dignity for all people, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Services

The Hive offers a range of services including:

• Survivor Support Services: This includes crisis counseling, peer victim advocacy, wrap-around case management services, and psychoeducational peer support groups for adult women and teen girls.
• Outreach and Prevention: The organization conducts community outreach through its Annual SC Survivors Summit, distributes socio-emotional toolkits called The Bee Box in hospitals, schools, and other locations, and provides monthly trainings. Additionally, it offers The Buzz Pak, a teen and parent prevention program aimed at fostering healthy relationships.

Impact

Since its inception, The Hive has served over 470 survivors through its support services and over 1,100 community members through outreach and prevention efforts. The organization partners with other entities, such as the SC Victim Assistance Network (SCVAN), to provide emergency and economic relief to victims.
