HISTORY IS OUR TERRITORY From the creation of the majestic Willamette Falls to the Native American peoples that have called this land home for thousands of years to the industrial marvels that brought power to Portland discover the beginning of all things Oregon. ON EXHIBIT NOW DIGITAL EXHIBITS NOW AVAILABLE DIGITALLY LIFE AND DEATH IN THE OREGON TERRITORY Formerly exhibited onsite at the Museum of the Oregon Territory in 2018 Life and Death in the Oregon Territory has returned as a digital exhibit examining the culture surrounding life and death in Oregon between 1840 and 1920. With topics ranging from 18th and 19th century midwifery to the impact of the Civil War on the funeral industry this digital exhibit will illuminate the motions of life and loss among early Oregonians. Note Due to some of the topics and imagery we advise those who are sensitive to the subjects of death infant mortality murder capital punishment and illness to take caution.
