TOMORROW AT 7PM, come see the latest in our 2025 series with "Mount Hood National Forest" presented by author Cheryl Hill! The Mount Hood National Forest is the closest national forest to Portland and encompasses the northern end of Oregon's Cascade Mountains and the Columbia River Gorge. Established in 1908 as the Oregon National Forest and renamed the Mount Hood National Forest in 1924, it now consists of more than a million acres and is home to Oregon's tallest mountain. Cheryl Hill, author of Images of America: Mount Hood National Forest and Images of America: Fire Lookouts of Oregon, will detail the history and culture of this sixty-two mile National Forest. Admission to the 2025 Look Back Lecture series is FREE thanks to the Union Pacific Railroad Community Ties Giving Program grant! You can see this presentation on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 7PM. It's been one week since the Grand Opening of our exhibit "Jennings Lodge: A Gathering Place for Faith, Community, and Revival" and we were blown away by the turnout! Over 180 people visited us to come see our new museum experience and we are beyond thrilled! We'd like to give a special thanks to The Hive Social and Starbucks for catering the event, the charcuterie and refreshments were a huge hit! We'd also like to thank Commissioner Paul Savas and Professor Emeritus of History Mark Weinert for speaking, as well as special guest and ribbon-cutter Eleanor Odell. Admission to the new "Jenning Lodge" exhibit is included with the purchase of your ticket to the Museum of the Oregon Territory, open Wednesday through Saturday, 10:30 AM - 4:00 PM. (fb)
