CASA DC trains volunteers to advocate in the best interests of abused and neglected children in Washington, DC's foster care system. UW#: 8593 CFC#: 30921 CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers are trained to advocate in the best interests of CASA DC’s mission is to provide every young person in DC who has experienced trauma with a caring adult who will advocate for their best interests while developing a relationship of trust. CASA DC helps DC’s youth thrive, not just survive.
This mission is carried out through the recruitment, training, and support of volunteer court-appointed special advocates (CASA volunteers) who provide mentorship and best interest advocacy to DC's foster children and justice-involved youth.
CASA DC recognizes the impact that childhood trauma can have - impacting present performance and future outcomes in every aspect of the youth's life. We believe that every court-involved youth in DC deserves a stable, positive adult figure who can serve as a protective factor against the impact of the trauma.
