Early Morning Response to Assist on House Fire – West Brandywine Township At 1:39 AM on Saturday morning, East Brandywine Fire Company was dispatched to assist Wagontown Fire Company on a reported house fire in the 200 block of Kaolin Road, located in West Brandywine Township. Assistant 49 and Engine 49-2 responded with 7 volunteers from EBFC. Initial reports indicated smoke in the basement but no visible fire. MICU 244-1 was first to arrive on scene and reported nothing showing from the exterior, a report later confirmed by Deputy 35 of Wagontown, who subsequently held the response to Wagontown (35), EBFC (49), and VA Fire Department (76) units. Engine 76 (VAFD) and Engine 49-2 arrived and staged outside the residence as Deputy 35 conducted an interior investigation. Upon the arrival of Engine 35, Deputy 35 confirmed that the issue was isolated to a hot water heater in the basement. Thankfully, there was no active fire, and all units were cleared shortly after. Tonight at 9:59 PM, East Brandywine Fire Company was dispatched to the Brandywine Farm Clubhouse at Traditions of America in the 700 block of East Reeceville Road, West Brandywine Township, for a reported fire alarm activation. Chief 49, Deputy 49, Assistant 49, Safety 49, Engine 49-2, and Ladder 49 responded with 15 dedicated volunteers. Safety 49 was first to arrive and reported an active alarm sounding but nothing visible from the exterior of the building. Crews conducted a full 360° walk-around and made entry using the Knox Box key system. Once inside, firefighters completed a thorough check of the entire structure. Fortunately, no smoke or fire was found, and all units were able to clear the scene quickly and safely. 🔥 Why Are Fire Alarms So Important? 🔥 Fire alarm systems play a critical role in keeping both people and property safe. They provide early warning of potential fire conditions, allowing fire departments to respond rapidly—often before a situation can escalate. Even if it turns out to be a false alarm, it’s always better to be safe than sorry. These systems are designed to detect trouble before it becomes a real emergency. Thank you to our volunteers for their fast and professional response! (fb)
