The power of supportive moms in a girls’ education and life is profound!  At our project in Suswa, Kenya, in partnership with Life Bloom, 37 moms of the children in our Leadership and Peer Counseling project are participating in a vocational training project. They are making beaded jewelry which is culturally significant and has a local market. They are earning for the first time, and also benefiting from mental health support, non formal education and loving community. These services are helping them to become more aware of the negative impact of harmful practices like child marriage and FGM which are endemic in the community, and to better support their kids, emotionally as well as financially, in their education.  @lifebloomservicesint #sisterhood #motherhood (fb)

Congratulations to our high school grads at the Resource Centers! Bhavani, Saloni, Nikki, Tuli, Ankita, Sunny and Roshan have passed their grade 10 Board exams - qualifying them for high school graduation!! Swarnab and Rabi have passed their first year college exams with flying colors. These students, growing up in Kolkata red light areas, have been sponsored by HFC for many years, and they receive daily support and have a safe space to spend time after school at the Resource Centers.
