The Center for Architecture + Design is dedicated to creating a positive dialogue focused on architecture, design + the built environment in the Bay Area. The Center for Architecture + Design is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to creating a public-focused dialogue on architecture, design, and the built environment in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Center for Architecture + Design is the first center of its kind on the West Coast to enhance public appreciation for architecture and design both locally and internationally through exhibitions, lectures, tours, film series and other programs. The Center celebrates the larger diverse design community and is a collaborative environment where design organizations and professionals engage in the overall programming and mission.The Center shares its home with AIA San Francisco and is located within the historic Hallidie Building, designed by Willis Polk in 1917. As a cultural destination for architectural professionals and members of the public alike, the Center promotes sustainable design, encourages community participation and provides engaging public exhibitions. In 2007, it became one of the first LEED certified spaces open to the public in San Francisco.The Center Resource Library encourages public education and civic discourse on architecture and design. Members of the public and potential clients can visit the Resource Library to look for an architect, research current design trends and learn more about the local Bay Area architecture and design community.
