Welcome to the Official Website for Smith Mountain Lake Marine Volunteer Fire Rescue Since its establishment in 1975 the Department hasprovided invaluable fire and rescue protectiondive operations navigation sustainability servicesfire prevention education and other services to maintain a safe boating environmentto the greater Smith Mountain Lake community. SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE Va. WSET Residents across Smith Mountain Lake say stray voltage is an issue at many docks in the area but tragedies like Thursdays electrocution of an 18yearold are preventable with the help of something called the Shock Alert. The Assistant Chief of Smith Mountain Lake Volunteer Fire and Rescue Ray Talley said they have nine fire boats assisting folks on the lake daily .
