The Sensorial materials are composed of a system of objects grouped according to a determined physical quality of bodies, such as dimension, color, form, texture, weight, temperature or sound. With the Red Rods, for example, we see that each rod is the same color. Each is the same height and the same width. The only thing that is different is the length. This material effectively isolates that specific abstract quality and focuses the child on constructing the pattern using that very quality of length.
