Meet Layka, a true hero in fur: This Belgian Malinois military working dog took four bullets while protecting her handler during a 2012 mission in Afghanistan. Despite being severely wounded, she attacked and subdued the shooter, saving her handler's life. After multiple surgeries and the loss of one leg, Layka not only survived but thrived until she crossed the rainbow bridge in April of 2024, showing the incredible resilience and loyalty of our military working dogs until her final days.
