Chalkbeat Votebeat and Healthbeat help people strengthen their communities with journalism that is rooted in local needs and subject matter expertise. Our reporting covers the critical daytoday work and life experiences of the people who fight to improve education voting and public health outcomes and the people affected by that work. And while local journalism seems to be collapsing and national media focuses less on people and more on polarization the powerful and profit our journalists work to serve communities.
