For this #ThankfulThursday, we are highlighting two key community partners that have lent tremendous support to our Department of Community Education and Empowerment over the past year. We are pleased to present Robert Hampton of R&J Maintenance as our Neighborhood Sustainability Partner of the Year, in recognition of his support for Athens-Clarke County residents and his dedication to mentoring the Young Urban Builders, our youth construction work-based learning program. We are also pleased to honor Laura Iyer of the Southern Sustainability Institute as our Community Climate Champion, in recognition of her commitment to educating and empowering her community to build a more sustainable South through workshops, outreach events, and solar advocacy in partnership with Dr. Tawana S. Mattox, our Director of Community Education and Empowerment. Robert and Laura have added immeasurable value to our neighborhood sustainability efforts, and we are glad to have had the opportunity to honor them at the 2025 Green Life Awards last month. (fb)
