Fun fact about Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina - he’s basically the rockstar of Renaissance choral music (though instead of electric guitars, think soaring polyphony ✨). Nicknamed the “Prince of Music” 👑, Palestrina wrote over 100 masses and hundreds of motets, shaping the sound of sacred music for centuries. His music is so smooth and balanced that it’s said the Council of Trent kept polyphony alive because of him.

🎉 This October, we join a global tradition of celebrating the birthday of composer Arvo Pärt (born September 11, 1935) —one of the most influential voices in contemporary music. Since the early 2000s, Pärt’s birthday has been marked with concerts in his hometowns of Paide and Rakvere, in Tallinn, and around the world. Festivals, books, radio shows, and conferences have honored his legacy—most notably the annual Pärt Days festival in Estonia.
