It's National Bike Month and today, we're celebrating our riders! Since day one of the Dempsey Challenge, our cyclists have come out in full force, taking on some incredibly challenging routes and dedicating themselves to raising much-needed funds to provide supportive cancer care to anyone impacted by a diagnosis. We are grateful for each and every cyclist who has taken on the Challenge in rain, heat, and even snow (!!) over the past 17 years. Yesterday, our team made space in our staff meeting to reflect on clients we have lost in the past month. Led by a member of our counseling team, this monthly ritual gives our staff the time to process loss together and ends with a special reading. This month's reading was entitled "THROUGH THE WRINGER" by Donna Ashworth. This ritual is an extension of the space we provide for clients experiencing grief and moving through bereavement, a critical component of care offered at the Dempsey Center. For clients experiencing grief, we provide counseling, support groups, expressive arts healing workshops, and access to our other no-cost services to help them move through their emotions and find tools to help them along the way.
