Art Highlight: “Untitled (S.028, Hanging Four-Lobed Continuous Form within a Form)” (1960) The suspended form of "Untitled” hangs almost weightlessly, thanks to Japanese American artist Ruth Asawa’s unique method of looping flexible wire together to weave closed sculptures. Inspired in part by observing the creation of wire baskets during a trip to Mexico, Asawa began creating sculptures that simultaneously take up space, but also appear light and airy. Shadows cast by light seen through the artwork show more than a simple silhouette—inviting the viewer to investigate the exterior and interior of the work.
