United PDX Soccer Club

The United PDX Soccer Club is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the development of young people through the game of soccer. Established from the merger of original nonprofit organizations, including Northeast United and Bridlemile Soccer Clubs, which have been in existence since the mid-1980s, United PDX continues to serve nearly 3,000 youth players aged 4 to 19 from the Portland, Oregon area and surrounding communities.

Mission and Vision

United PDX aims to develop players by fostering a lifelong love and appreciation for soccer, providing a supportive environment for growth both on and off the field. The organization emphasizes community values and aims to be a full-service soccer club, offering Recreational, Developmental, and Competitive programs to cater to diverse ambitions and skill levels.

Programs

  • Recreational Soccer: This program is neighborhood-based and available for players in grades 1 through 8. Volunteer parents serve as coaches, with practices one to two times a week during the fall season and game-only schedules in the spring.
  • Development and Competitive Programs: Designed to enhance player skills, these programs are led by nearly 50 licensed coaches who create environments tailored to individual player needs.
  • TOPSoccer: United PDX also participates in TOPSoccer, a program for young athletes with mental or physical disabilities. This community-based initiative provides training and team placement opportunities for those with disabilities, promoting inclusivity and equal access to sports participation.

Financial and Community Support

United PDX is reliant on donations to support its activities, particularly its Financial Assistance Program, which provides over $250,000 annually to help eligible players cover costs associated with participation. Additionally, donations assist with field costs, which are over $250,000 and continue to rise due to growing demand for field space. The organization also benefits from its robust volunteer base of nearly 400 adults.

Donations to United PDX are tax-deductible, contributing to its mission to ensure that every player has access to quality soccer training and development opportunities. The club's dedication to community engagement and support underscores its commitment to fostering a culture of teamwork, inclusivity, and personal development.
