Mission

The Red & Black Publishing Company Inc has a dual mission: to train students for careers in the news industry while providing reliable, independent news to the community. It supports itself through advertising sales, special events, and donations, receiving no funding from the university.

Operations

Each year, over 250 students participate in the organization, gaining hands-on experience in community journalism and leadership roles. The organization serves more than 75,000 readers both online and in print, offering free news to the UGA and Athens communities. The Red & Black operates as an independent entity with a strong focus on producing online content and a weekly print edition.
