Dakota Woodlands

History

Dakota Woodlands originated as Mary's Shelter, which was established as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization on November 25, 1981. Initially located in West St. Paul, Minnesota, the shelter initially served single pregnant women. Over time, it expanded its services to include single homeless women and homeless women with children. By 1995, the organization discontinued its maternity services and focused entirely on homeless programming. In that same year, it relocated to Eagan, Minnesota, and underwent renovations, culminating in a name change to Dakota Woodlands in 2000.
