🎉 Congratulations to MD Michela Bartolini! 🌍💫 At just thirty years old, Michela Bartolini—originally from the small town of Frontone in the Marche region of Italy—has already made an international mark in oncology. Currently at the Norris Cancer Center at the University of Southern California, she is pursuing her specialization under the mentorship of world-renowned expert Heinz-Josef Lenz. Michela was recently awarded the prestigious Merit Award by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) for her groundbreaking retrospective study on patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. Her research mainly focuses on the non-coding genome, once thought to be “junk” DNA, and its role in cancer development. In particular, she investigates long non-coding RNAs as potential biomarkers for prognosis and treatment response. Early results are promising and open up exciting avenues for precision medicine. A graduate of Università Cattolica in Rome with a specialization from Humanitas in Milan, Michela is passionate about bridging research and clinical care. “I’d love to return to Italy one day,” she says, “but I remain open to the world.
