โI wonder what happens to a personโs voice when their language disappears. โ In this moving story, Sudanese linguist Esraa Alrasheed reflects on the inner voice that has guided her during displacement and war, and the voices and languages her family has been separated from. This video was created during the "We Are Our Languages" digital storytelling workshop in late 2024, organized by the Endangered Languages Project and facilitated by SStoryCenter These short films share the real-life experiences of people working to revitalize and reclaim their languages, offering deeply personal reflections on their relationship to their languages, lands, and personal experiences, as well as sharing the motivations, challenges, and joys in their language work.
