In a world where the cost of living is rising, mental health challenges are escalating, and housing instability is a daily reality for too many - now is not the time to take resources away from our most vulnerable. At a roundtable hosted by U.S. Senator Patty Murray, Cocoon House CEO Joe Alonzo spoke to the critical importance of Continuum of Care (CoC) funding for youth experiencing homelessness: “The young people we serve don’t care about political power struggles, nor do they have interest in having their identities erased. They want the opportunity to find a stable and supportive housing environment, to gain skills, and to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. In this situation, they unfortunately stand to lose the most.” Without this funding, nearly 200 young people in Snohomish County will lose access to safe housing and life-saving support.
