Today marks five years since the murder of George Floyd, an action which ignited a wave of protests. In the fall of that year, the AAMI opened 'Unwavering: 21st Century Activism.' This exhibit explored contemporary social movements from Black Lives Matter to #MeToo and more. 'Unwavering' examined how these movements are entwined in the lives of African Americans throughout the country, with a special focus on events that have sparked activism in Iowa. While this temporary exhibit is no longer on display, you can always learn about Black history and culture at the African American Museum of Iowa. Learn more about our past exhbits at blackiowa.org.
