Send us your best pictures of the flowers you’ve grown, the veggies you’ve harvested or even that quiet corner of your garden that brings you peace. 📅 Deadline: June 30 at 11:59 p.m. 📸 Submit your photos here: https://forms.gle/icxd2VMjoJ9WR68E6 🌿 Open to all Georgia residents! Finalists will be notified in September. Let’s grow Georgia 💚 (fb)

Wild bees are crucial pollinators in North Georgia’s apple orchards—and they do a lot of heavy lifting alongside honeybees. In fact, one bee, the Andrena crataegi (aka the Georgia Apple Bee), made up over 30% of wild bees observed during apple bloom in a University of Georgia study. But they don’t just help farmers—these native pollinators support the health of Georgia’s natural landscapes, too. Want to support wild bees? ➡️ Leave patches of undisturbed soil in your orchard or garden ➡️ Plant diverse flowers along orchard or garden edges ➡️ Avoid disturbing natural nesting sites in wood or soil Learn more about the bees found in Georgia’s orchards—and how to spot them in the wild—with our Visual Guide to Common Wild Bees in Apple Orchards in North Georgia: https://extension.uga.edu/publications/detail.html?number=C1324 -- ✍️ Guide written by: - Bodie Pennisi, Vincent J. Dooley Professor in Horticulture; Emphasis: Commercial and sustainable landscape; pollinators - Brett R Blaauw, Associate Professor, Entomology (fb)
