Tomorrow Never Came opens June 11th! Join us for this powerful story of love and liberation kicking off our Criminal Queerness Festival @herearts. Tickets at link in bio. 🇺🇬 Set in 1987 Uganda, Tomorrow Never Came follows Lawrence Muhumuza, a war hero struggling with the personal cost of the liberation he fought for. Torn between duty, desire, and the life he is expected to lead, Lawrence is caught in a web of political tension, secrecy, and forbidden love. As he prepares to leave his wife, Rhoda, for his lover, Sam, the weight of his choices collides with a nation still healing from war and betrayal. In a world where survival often means silence, Lawrence must confront the impossible question—can one truly be free if they are forced to live a lie? Through a gripping and emotionally charged narrative, Tomorrow Never Came explores themes of love, power, and the sacrifices made in the name of liberation. Community Events: • June 11th - Talkback & Opening night! • June 19th - Black Theater Night with @lgbtbrooklyn • June 21st - Artistic Expression Day with @aclu_nationwide, @penamerica, @nycpride, and @artistic_freedom_initiative Photo by @desmondpicotte (fb)

The official theater event of NYC Pride! Get your tickets now to National Queer Theater’s 7th Annual Criminal Queerness Festival, featuring a groundbreaking lineup of radical new shows, playing June 11-28 at HERE Arts Center. This work is more vital than ever. This festival, along with so many arts programs across the U.S., was defunded by the federal government. In response, we are joining together as a community to ensure that these censorship-free plays take place no matter what. Criminal Queerness Festival is a co-production between National Queer Theater and HERE Arts Center. Get tickets and learn more at nationalqueertheater.org. You do not want to miss this one. 💥 The Criminal Queerness Festival is supported by generous funders including New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, Doris Duke Foundation, the JKW Foundation, and the Terrence McNally Foundation.
