📣 This is an important post regarding applications to our 56th Annual Summer Arts Festival. It has come to our attention that some accounts on Facebook have been advertising available vendor spots for the 56th Annual Summer Arts Festival in different online groups and in the comments section of our event page for the festival. These accounts are spreading false information with the intent to scam artists. It is our understanding that they put vendors through a "jury" process, take their payment, then tell them the event is cancelled with other false information as to why they cannot refund their money. It very unfortunate and disappointing that there are individuals who are trying to take money from working artists. We are deleting these comments and reporting the accounts as they come to our attention, but wanted to provide an informational post to provide clarity and ensure artists are not scammed. Please note that we have closed our applications for the event, so any comments or posts stating otherwise are false. To help interested artists better identify potential scams around our event, we wanted to share a few pieces of information about our application process with you: • UVA will not share about artist opportunities in comments on Facebook from PERSONAL accounts. All artist opportunities are shared directly through our official social media pages and/or through our online newsletter. Unless the comment comes from this page, it is not official. Additionally, UVA Staff will always prefer to email more detailed information to you from our official email domain (@uvarts.com) • All Art Vendor applications are processed through Zapplication. If anyone asks an artist to fill out an application not posted through Zapplication, it is likely to be a scam. • All Art Vendor communications regarding the event are done through UVA's official email domain (@uvarts.com). Any emails that do not end in this domain are not affiliated with UVA in any way. When in doubt, artists are always welcome to reach out to us at info@uvarts.com or ashley@uvarts.com (our Exhibitions Coordinator and main manager of all Art Vendor relations for the event). We will be happy to confirm any details and/or answer any questions.
