When we launched Air Care in 1985, Jan was one of the first flight nurses to join the team - bringing with her a pioneering spirit and ICU experience. Over nearly four decades, she delivered lifesaving care in the air during unforgettable moments like responding to a call after a mother delivered her baby prematurely at home to stabilizing burn victims or critically injured motorcyclists. Through it all, she witnessed the evolution of how emergency care is delivered—from hands-on techniques to high-tech advances like in-flight labs and ultrasounds—but she never lost sight of the humanity in healthcare. After retiring in 2022, Jan says people will often ask her if she misses it and she replies, "The thing I miss the most is going home at the end of the day and knowing you helped someone. You don’t get that feeling in many other areas - that true pride of providing care in an emergency."
