On May 29, 1948, construction of the $1,600,000 Yakima Memorial Hospital started. On June 20, 1950, the first patients were admitted to the hospital. It is now called MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital. (fb)
North Yakima's Carnegie Library opened on May 26, 1907, at 102 North 3rd Street. Philanthropist Andrew Carnegie agreed to give $10,000 to North Yakima to build a free public library building on December 14, 1903. The interior image is from 1950. The library that we know today, that replaced the Carnegie Library, had the groundbreaking on November 6, 1957, and opened January 1958. (fb)
