Must See Monday! She’s A Big Star! This fancy mare has had very few rides as we’ve worked to keep her RRP eligible. A 16.2h - 2018 model, Big Star retired to our program in July 2024 after a 39 start racing career. We allowed her a few months off to rest and put a first ride (see here) on her in December. She is clear to go in any direction. From Race Horse To Riding HorseHope After Racing Thoroughbreds Providing A Future for Central Iowas Thoroughbreds Since our founding in 2011 Hope After Racing Thoroughbreds HART has worked closely with the professionals at Prairie Meadows Racetrack to provide a thoughtful and purpose driven aftercare solution for our equine athletes. Our purpose is to provide these horses with a soft landing after their racing careers are over. As an organization we strive to provide a temporary home rehabilitation if necessary and if appropriate retraining prior to being adopted into a permanent home.
