We unfortunately have sad news about Henry💔 Over the past few weeks, Henry has struggled with urinating and defecating. He’s been seen multiple times by our vet but despite enemas, fluid therapy, a diluted food regimen, added fiber, and laxatives, Henry has still been unable to relieve himself. As most of you know, we rescued Henry from abuse in 2021. He arrived with what appeared to be a stab wound to his lower hip that was in incredibly bad shape. He has been diagnosed with megacolon caused by his nerve damage, a condition in which the large intestine becomes paralyzed and severely distended, preventing normal movement of waste. The enlarged intestines also put pressure on his bladder and urethra, making it extremely difficult to urinate. Sadly, there was no viable treatment option to keep Henry comfortable. His condition is irreversible 💔 Throughout all this, Henry has been incredibly brave and gentle, tolerating procedures and medication, like the perfect little angel he is 👼 Our vet strongly recommended euthanasia to not prolong suffering. We met as a group with his previous and current caregivers, and sadly said it was time to set our sweet boy free 🌈 He was surrounded by his caregivers and an immense about of love.
