🌿 Spring Harvest & Fresh Plantings at Farm City Detroit! 🌿 What a day!! 🌱 Our big spring harvest brought in a beautiful mix of greens—spinach, lettuce, arugula, and radishes—all freshly picked and shared with neighbors. A large donation also went out with Metro Food Rescue, who distribute fresh, nutritious food across the city to organizations in need. After the harvest, we got 350 new plants in the ground—tomatoes, peppers, okra, tomatillos, husk cherries, squash, amaranth, zinnias, and more! 🌱 We also tackled weeding, garden maintenance, and installed new irrigation lines to help everything thrive as the season heats up. And our pollinator garden is starting to see life—a quiet buzz of activity as the ecosystem begins to wake up 🐝🌿 A huge thank you to all the incredible volunteers and the Extension Master Gardeners who joined us today—your hands, energy, and commitment make this work possible, and we’re so grateful for your support! 💚 Farm City Detroit is built on community, collaboration, and love for the land. What a week at Farm City Detroit! 🌱🌼 We had another incredible Saturday with an amazing crew of volunteers who helped us get so much done! Together, we planted squash, okra, peppers, beans, flowers, and so many more seedlings — the garden is bursting with new life. 🌶️🌸🌿 We also planted grasses around most of the back perimeter (huge thanks to Tom for the generous donation 🙌), added more canna lilies, and even put in elderberry trees — a beautiful and tasty addition to our growing orchard! Maintaining the gardens takes dedication and teamwork, and we’re so grateful to have new neighbors joining us, along with longtime friends from across Detroit. Your energy and care keep this space beautiful and bountiful. Next weekend is our BIG Spring Harvest — come be part of it!
