📣Excited to share that Catalina’s thesis on Child Marriage has been published in the Panorama Javeriano magazine in Colombia. Titled “Child Marriage and Gender-Based Violence: An Approach to a Sexist and Patriarchal Society that Conceals Its Perpetrators”, the article sheds light on child marriage as a form of gender-based violence deeply embedded in patriarchal and machista societies. It explores how this practice not only violates the rights of girls, but is also perpetuated by cultural, religious, and economic systems that enable impunity. 🔎The piece highlights the lack of information on perpetrators, who range from intentional abusers to men coerced by social norms, and calls for comprehensive strategies that go beyond punishment to challenge the root causes. 👉🏽Read the original article in Spanish here: https://issuu.com/panorama_javeriano/docs/panorama_javeriano_version2definitiva 👉🏽Read the translated version in English here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hPC98Fzh_ap3YCnfHPdDVGbXYKUhPvPw/view?usp=sharing 💥Early this year, SAHR collaborated with Save the Children (@redbarnetdk) to develop national campaign strategies to empower girl-led movements in Vietnam, China, Mexico and Indonesia. Ending child marriage remains a systemic issue across the globe and it requires dedicated systemic change, cultural shifts, and the empowerment of girls everywhere. (fb)

We are thrilled to share a proud moment with our community!🎉 Our Legal and Program Officer, @catalinadominguezf, was recently invited by the Law Program of Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Cali, her hometown in Colombia, to speak about her professional journey, her experience as a Javeriana lawyer, and her leadership both in the public sector back home and now at SAHR. During her visit, Catalina engaged with students across different semesters, reflecting on the value of academic opportunities, the importance of staying grounded and intentional, and what it means to build a legal career abroad, embracing all the challenges and growth that come with it. She also introduced students to SAHR’s work: our mission, the countries we serve, and our commitment to fighting sexual and gender-based violence around the world. At SAHR, we are proud to take our work beyond borders and into academic spaces, amplifying our message and inspiring future generations who believe in justice, equity, and transformative leadership.
