Neglect comes in all forms. The Levy County Sheriff's Office and Horse Protection teamed up to rescue this sweet young mare who we renamed Angelica. She was kept confined in an enclosed area that had not been kept clean. She had to stand in her own manure. Her feet were so infected with thrush from the manure that her hooves had holes in the bottom and were bleeding. She also had muscle atrophy from not being able to move. We are so thankful to have saved her. She is the sweetest girl. A big thank you to one of our great farriers, Kenny Knowlton, who made an emergency visit to help her.
