It is with deep regret the UFOA announces the passing of Captain Gregory John Schmidt of Engine Company 8, which occurred on Friday April 25, 2025. Captain Schmidt served our great department for 22 years. Prior to joining the FDNY, Captain Schmidt was as a member of the NYPD. The following arrangements have been confirmed: Visitation: Thursday May 1, 2025 2:00pm - 4:00pm & 7:00pm-9:00pm OB Davis Funeral Home 1001 Route 25A Miller Place, NY 11764 Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, May 2, 2025 11:00am St. James Roman Catholic Church 429 Route 25A Setauket, NY 11733 Members are requested to attend in Class A Uniform.
