How many times a day do you use the toilet? It may seem like an inappropriate question for a Tuesday, but imagine having to venture into a field or walk half a mile to use the lavatories. The Sewing and Community Center we helped build over the last three years is now fully operational. However, we experienced complications with the bathroom installation. We are on a mission to rebuild the septic system and put in the remaining three toilets, as we cannot fathom having to work a full day without nearby facilities. For many of our program’s beneficiaries, convenient bathrooms are a luxury, but we believe that once these toilets are installed, productivity will increase and daily life will be more easeful. You might be wondering about these “complications.” Plumbing was more expensive than anticipated, and there were a few setbacks along the way. As you can see from the cow pictured below, one of our local bovine friends fell into the septic tank we were digging, causing significant damage. A generous donor has already contributed to installing a gate to keep the cows out, but now we need your help to cover the remaining costs! If everyone who reads this email donates just $1 for each time they use the restroom throughout the day, we will raise enough money to provide the necessary toilets in Mabarhule, South Africa.
