THE HCA HOPE FUND
As HCA Healthcare employees, it is our priority to take care of patients as well as each other. The Hope Fund is all about helping our HCA Healthcare family.
The HCA Hope Fund
The HCA Hope Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in the United States, dedicated to providing financial assistance to HCA Healthcare employees and their immediate families facing financial hardships. These hardships include, but are not limited to, natural disasters, extended illnesses, injuries, domestic violence, the death of a loved one, and other unexpected situations that impact essential needs.
Mission and Purpose
The mission of the HCA Hope Fund is to embody compassion and assist colleagues in times of need, emphasizing the importance of supporting one another within the HCA Healthcare community. The fund is driven by contributions from HCA Healthcare colleagues and matching funds from the company, ensuring that assistance reaches those who need it most.
History
The HCA Hope Fund was formally established in July 2005, following a series of hurricanes in Florida that affected hundreds of HCA Healthcare employees. Initially created as an informal support mechanism, it evolved into a nonprofit organization to provide a more structured way of offering assistance. Over the years, it has grown to become a significant source of support for the HCA Healthcare community.
Activities and Impact
As of 2024, the HCA Hope Fund has distributed more than $113 million in assistance through over 60,000 grants to HCA Healthcare colleagues and their families in need. In 2023 alone, over $11.4 million was distributed to support more than 3,800 individuals. This support has been instrumental in helping colleagues recover from various crises, such as hurricanes and severe illnesses.
The fund is governed by an independent Board of Directors composed of HCA Healthcare employees from across the country. Contributions to the fund are tax-deductible, and 100% of donations go directly to helping colleagues. The Frist Foundation has notably supported the fund with a $1 million donation in 2024, highlighting the broader community's recognition of its impact.
Funding and Operations
The HCA Hope Fund primarily relies on contributions from colleagues and associated entities. It does not incur executive compensation costs or professional fundraising fees, ensuring that resources are maximized for those in need. The fund encourages participation from all HCA Healthcare employees by highlighting the impact even small contributions can have.
Recognition and Community Engagement
The Hope Fund annually recognizes facilities with the highest percentage of contributing colleagues, fostering a spirit of community and support across HCA Healthcare's operations. Facilities achieving this recognition multiple times are honored in the Hope Fund Winners Circle, further motivating strong participation and community support.
In essence, the HCA Hope Fund serves as a powerful symbol of solidarity and corporate social responsibility, demonstrating HCA Healthcare's commitment to caring not only for its patients but also for its employees.

We are incredibly proud of the resilience and compassion our HCA Healthcare colleagues have demonstrated as we face the impact of Hurricane #Milton, while continuing to recover from Hurricane #Helene, across our communities. Across HCA Healthcare, compassion goes beyond patient care – it extends to caring for each other during difficult times. The HCA Healthcare Hope Fund ensures our colleagues do not have to face challenges alone.
