Thank you all for your continued support of Tent City4 after our successful move, and continuing support for our Brickhouse, SHARE’s first family shelter. As both communities continue to settle in, we’re always grateful for donations from our beloved supporters. Here are the most requested items: TC4 Needs: Food (especially ready-to-go food and prepared meals), TENTS, bottled water, men’s clothing, duct tape, and one or two office chairs. We’re working on getting bids on power and water installation, and will update as this work is scheduled! (12531--28th NE) Brickhouse Needs: Food, blankets, bottled water, diapers & wipes, men’s, women’s and kid’s clothes and shoes (for adults & kids), cooking utensils, and toys (3212 NE 125th). Thanks again! (fb)

We’re still celebrating our Tent City4 victory, but there’s lots more work to be done! Thank you to all of our allies for your support. Read on for ways to help! Updated Camp Needs: Food and Meals remain our top concern. We’re hungry! Next most needed are blankets, tents, tarps, clothing, and kitchen supplies. For meals you can email tc4@sharewheel.org to sign up for our meal calendar. Donations can be dropped off anytime at the security desk 12531--28th NE. We quite desperately need prospects and ideas of CONTRACTORS for setting up temporary power and water at the camp. Please reach out to shelters@sharewheel.org right away if you have ideas. In the meantime, as mentioned, we’re frequently in need of bottled water. It should surprise no one that SHARE/WHEEL did serious and intentional contingency planning to make this hard move. We had to allay the fears of our families, and prioritize their safety. We worked creatively and closely together as a community, with our faith hosts. Our previous Tent City4 Mennonite Church site included a building for community space for the camp. After we opened the camp last May, we were OVERWHELMED with desperate families needing shelter, and developed (and got permitted!) a small family/disabled persons’ shelter in that space, which will remain at that site (3212 NE 125th). We're grateful to the Mennonites for letting us create and maintain our first family shelter. The shelter is currently full, and the plan is to intake families from Tent City4 as space is available. We are glad and very relieved some families have this safe place to stay! It’s been an unexpectedly and dramatically hectic two weeks! The Rally for 500 Seattle Shelter Spots we’d hope to facilitate next Tuesday, May 27th at City Hall has been postponed. Stay tuned for updates and a new date. (fb)
