Welcome to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark Our Mission Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newarks HFHGN mission is to provide decent affordable housing in partnership with low and moderateincome families and together work to revitalize communities in Essex Hudson and Union Counties. For over 35 years Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark HFHGN has helped to forge both a visible community of lowmoderateincome families achieving safe shelter and a community of volunteers making a positive difference and contribution to their local neighborhoods. Organizational History Since 1986 Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark HFHGN has partnered with families and the community to expand homeownership among low to moderateincome families. In 2012 we created our Critical Repair and Healthy Homes Program to identify and fix barriers to safe and healthy living conditions for homeowners earning less than 80 AMI by providing home repairs such as mold and asbestos remediation roof repairs and energyconserving improvements.
