✨ Resident Artist Spotlight: Alessandro "Alex" Rotundo ✨ As we wrap up our 2024-25 season, we're celebrating the incredible Resident Artists who brought talent, heart, and artistry to Toledo Opera all year long. 1. What was your favorite role or moment during your time with Toledo Opera? I seriously enjoyed getting to play in the pit for Tosca in October. Getting to do sparse, though important celeste and organ parts was massively fulfilling. Also, getting to run captions during South Pacific in February was a whole new breadth of experience! 2. What's one thing you'll take with you from your time in Toledo? Throughout the season, I felt my bandwidth in opera expand enormously. I learned so many new arias with the singers that we took to outreach events, masterclasses, and beyond. Now I can only feel growing hunger to learn more within the operatic sphere. 3. What's next for you after this season? After the residency is done, I will be relocating back to California, where I will begin a new position as Music Director of the Good Table United Church of Christ, a fantastic congregation in the East Bay region. I will also be on the lookout for opportunities to freelance both as a pianist and composer in the Bay Area. And of course, the experience here at Toledo Opera has me hungry for more opportunities to play (and even compose) opera! Thank you, Alex, for an unforgettable season! 💛 (fb)
