Proud to announce Lauren Taylor as President of the Edison Festival of Light for the 2025-2026 season! Lauren is a dynamic community steward, involved in a variety of organizations supporting children, adults, veterans, first responders and runners. Lauren has been an ardent supporter, volunteer, and has been on the Edison Festival of Light board since 2017. She was elected to its executive board in 2021. Lauren has served as chair for the nationally recognized Edison Festival of Light 5K and Edison Junior runs. Adding to her work with runners in our community, Lauren is a Fort Myers Track Club (FMTC) member and sits on its Board of Directors. The track club, founded in 1978, promotes health and fitness through running. FMTC hosts nearly 20 races each year of various sizes and distances, from road races to trail running including the Edison Festival of Light 5K. The track club is a non-profit (501)c(3) organization and supports many local organizations with technical support in producing high-quality races. The organization helps raise nearly $300,000 in funds each year to support local charities. In addition to the support she offers youth in events during the Edison Festival of Light and the Fort Myers Track Club, Lauren is also involved with the Tommy Bohanon Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting young athletes in reaching their highest potential on and off the playing field. One of her most profound volunteer efforts supports the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a post-9/11 non-profit organization dedicated to helping America’s heroes by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star families and fallen first responders with young children, as well as building specially adapted smart homes for severely injured veterans and first responders. Tunnel to Towers is also committed to eradicating homelessness and ensuring America never forgets Sept. 11, 2001. (fb)
