We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dr. Laroy Borchert. Laroy served as the 2nd clarinet player for the El Paso Symphony for 22 years, from 1997 to 2019. In addition to his role with the EPSO, he was the principal clarinetist for the Las Cruces Symphony and a professor at New Mexico State University (NMSU). During his time with the EPSO, he was a member of the orchestra committee and participated in a tour to Turkey with the orchestra. Our sincerest condolences to his wife, Marie, and his 5 children. He will be missed. (fb)
Our 2024-2025 season concluded this past weekend with a bittersweet ending, marked by a Fabulous Finale. We bid farewell to two of our esteemed members: Rick Lambrecht and Jan Zubeck. Jan, our 2nd trombone player, is retiring after 31 years with EPSO. Rick, our principal horn player and the longest-serving member of the orchestra, is also retiring this season after an incredible 60 years of service. We truly appreciate their dedication to the El Paso Symphony and wish them all the best in their future endeavors. Both will be greatly missed. (fb)
