In today's State of the City event, City of Akron, Ohio - Mayor's Office Shammas Malik announced that his office will be bringing legislation to Akron City Council this month in hopes of launching a 3-year Right to Counsel for evictions program, in partnership with Community Legal Aid Services and the United Way of Summit & Medina. Right to Counsel programs have been successful in other communities, such as Cleveland and 25 other jurisdictions in the U.S. We look forward to working closely with the city on this initiative to provide access to justice for more tenants. #RighttoCounsel (fb)
