Our belief in the death and resurrection of Jesus is what quickened our spirits at the New Birth, and that tells us how powerful it is! One does not need to know how it works, just believe it. Those who are dead in their spirit will be quickened if they can believe. This quickening is also salvation but it is just the beginning of it. One who is dead needs to be quickened to hear the gospel (Eph. 2:1-5). The dead cannot hear what God is saying to the living. The bar of the gospel has to be raised. God has been doing a lot through the gospel in many generations. Some things are not the gospel, rather, they are an auxiliary to the gospel to bless people. A minister can be anointed to help people with their needs, but that is not what the gospel is about. The gospel is not just about the crucifixion of Jesus; it is also about His resurrection. The resurrection of Jesus is not just that He was raised, but that He was also made to sit. The gospel is thronic; the gospel is the news of a great Man, who is set in the right hand of the Majesty in the heavens (Heb. 8:1). When Jesus was made flesh (Heb. 7:26), He became man and was crucified. The reason for the crucifixion was to make an end of an inferior (fallen) man. When God was raising Jesus, He was raising a new species of men and Jesus is the first kind of that order. The fullness of this new Man (Jesus) could not live on the earth, and this shows the level of His newness.
